Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is nutrition-based treatment provided by a registered dietitian. This form of treatment aims to manage certain chronic conditions through nutrition education and planning. MNT has been shown to drive significant reduction in fasting blood sugar, weight/BMI, cholesterol, and blood pressure (source).
Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), which is the service that Pom's third-party dietitians provide, is a covered benefit under most health insurance plans. If you have a metabolic risk factor (overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.) or have been diagnosed with prediabetes / type 2 diabetes, your insurance will likely cover 100% of the cost to use Pom.Pom is curently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, NYSHIP, Oxford Health Plans, and UnitedHealthcare. For in-network patients, we will confirm your benefits coverage with your health plan. We will notify you of any potential out-of-pocket costs to use Pom — you will not be financially responsible for any costs without proper advance notification. If you're out-of-network, you can always pay with cash or we can prepare an out-of-network superbill for you to submit for reimbursement.
Many chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, can be helped or managed with Medical Nutrition Therapy. By teaching you how to make delicious, nutritious meals at home and providing personalized guidance from dietitians, we empower you to take control of your health journey.
